THE East Lancashire Deaf Society has presented Burnley Health Care NHS Trust with an award for their work catering for the needs of the deaf.
The presentation is in recognition of the Trust's demonstration and commitment to
improve services for profoundly deaf people.
Presenting the award was Doug Alker, chairman of the ELDS, together with Celia Hulme, the society's representative on the Trust's Disability and Access group, and Deborah Mellor of the society.
David Chew, Chief Executive of Burnley Health Care NHS Trust, said: "It has been a pleasure working with such an efficient and energetic organisation as East Lancashire Deaf Society. They have given us the opportunity to become more aware of the needs of profoundly deaf people in society generally, and especially when they come to us for health care."
