I AGREE with the anti-gambling protesters, not because I am against gambling as such, but it is another blow to Blackpool's image of a family resort.
We have already seen an influx of gay clubs and are attracting all sorts to the resort from far and wide. Now the promotion of gambling casinos is going to attract a lot of undesirables.
The biggest problem will be the 'money launderers'.
The Government agreement to a wide ranging deregulation of casinos may well present another headache for the law enforcement community.
UK Casinos are not subject to the 1993 money laundering regulations. That means they do not need to identify their clients nor keep records specifically for anti-money laundering purpose.
Is this not enough to attract the criminal fraternity to the resort?
Blackpool is still a family resort but for how much longer?
