I WOULD like to correct Tony Medley (Letters, January 16), who states that Darwen is an insignificant town that not many people have heard of.
A couple of years ago, my family obtained a new computer that came with an American encyclopedia disc. Out of interest we typed in 'Darwen' and, sure enough, a small piece of information on our beloved town appeared. We then tried 'Blackburn.' Nothing could be found!
If a superpower like America knows who we are and Blackburn is not even registered, then that's good enough for me.
SHAUN SINGLETON, The Sidings, Darwen.
