MR P McCann (Letters, January 14) states that there are lots of British people who have "not contributed" to our society.

His statement that housewives, carers, disabled, people with health problems and those who have simply never worked are in this category is an insult to all of them and, furthermore, to all those who do contribute to our society.

That is why it was I who was elected. It is I and my party which will represent the people he is only too willing to label.

While the British people in past, present and future generations are made to pay for those who do not contribute to our society, the burden increases. If Mr McCann is happy with this, then perhaps he could house some so-called 'asylum seekers' under his own roof!
