PENDLE MP Gordon Prentice has welcomed new government cash to tackle drugs-related crime.
Home Secretary David Blunkett has allocated more than £144million for the crackdown.
Out of £50million for police Basic Command Units Pennine Division of the Lancashire Constabulary will get £214,571. And out of £94million for Crime and Disorder Partnerships, Pendle is to get £120,867.
The cash is to tackle crime and disorder, disrupt local drugs markets and strengthen communities.
Labour backbencher Mr Prentice said: "I welcome the drive to decentralise responsibility for crime and drug issues by placing resources in the front line.
"I want to see this sort of crackdown continue.
"I know that very many people in Pendle are worried about crime, particularly those which undermine the feeling of safety, such as street crime, anti-social behaviour and burglary.
"We all need to feel safe and that our police have the tools to do the job. This extra cash will help."
