AN annual careers event for East Lancashire will take place on Thursday, February 20, at Pendle training in Nelson.

Jobs Night 2003 will involve many local employers who will be offering jobs with training through the Modern Apprenticeship scheme.

The event is always popular with Year 11 students looking to leave school and start a modern apprenticeship in the autumn.

It also provides help for young people who are just exploring their career options.

Representatives from the Careers Service and the Learning and Skills Council will also attend to provide advice.

Guests will also attend during the event including some of Pendle Training's current students who have already built successful careers with their modern apprenticeship.

Event manager Michelle Tattersall said: "Qualified staff from a wide range of sectors will be available to give advice and answer any questions that young people or their parents may have.

"Modern Apprenticeship are open to all young people between the ages of 16 to 24. We can help, so come down and have a look what's available."

Modern apprenticeship provides on the job training, a qualification and a wage.

Students and their parents will be invited to attend the jobs night between 5pm and 9pm.
