A FAMILY who have been the faces behind a popular Rossendale pub for more than a decade will pour their last pint next week.

Alan, Janet and Ian Jackson have been at the Craven Heifer, Burnley, Road, Rawtenstall, for 12 years, and have raised more than £15,000 for local charities.

The family moved from Salford to Rawtenstall to take on a new challenge - which turned out to be the Craven Heifer - and have never looked back.

Over the years they have organised a variety of fundraising events including a sponsored roller skate from Rawtenstall to Blackpool and canoeing along the Skipton canal.

Alan, 57, a former engineer, said: "We have had a great time at the pub but time takes it's toll especially in the pub trade and we feel like it's time to move on.

"We hope the people who take over the pub will follow in our footsteps and continue the traditional fundraising event."

Moorhouses Brewery, based in Burnley, are set to sign a contract to take over the pub early next week.

The family are taking a six month break after they host their official leaving party on Friday.

Janet, 56, added: "I would like to retire but I don't think Alan will let me do that so we will have to see what comes along. We have been thinking twice about if it's what we really want to do, but it's time to move on and try out new things."

The family said they would like to thank all their customers, past and present, for a wonderful 12 years and invited everyone to attend the party.

Alan said: "We are having karaoke and a buffet and we will even throw in a couple of free drinks to say goodbye."
