A FORMER registered firearms dealer has appeared in court, charged with offences relating to the unauthorised possession of ammunition and possession of an unlawfully modified .38 calibre bullet.

Ian Kirby, 45, of Aintree Drive, Lower Darwen, is also charged with possession of two coshes and the charges where adjourned until tomorrow, when he is due in court on charges of making threats to kill his estranged wife, Kay Kirby and Jim Gibson.

Kirby was granted bail on condition that he does not approach any witnesses or go within 500m of the boundary of his wife's home, Chapel barn Farm, Tockholes.

He must not have any involvement with firearms and ammunition and signed an undertaking that he would have no involvement in the day-to-day business of Target Sports, Halliwell Street, Bolton.
