COUNCILLOR Alan Lawson has produced several walks around Worsthorne to enable residents and visitors to enjoy and explore the countryside.

The parish council is exploring whether these walks with maps can be displayed on the websites of Burnley Borough Council and Lancashire County Council as it was felt this would be both cost-effective and accessible for most people.

THE parish council has received the following planning applications: Creation of new access including lowering of kerb, grassed area and pavement at 11 Brownside Road; Proposed bedroom extension at 13 The Crescent, Worsthorne.

POLICE Community Support Officer for the rural area, Dave Johnson, can be contacted on 01282 472912.

Dave will be holding regular monthly surgeries in the Reading Room on the last Friday morning of each month.

THE Men's Group will be hosting the Darts and Domino match against Habergham Men's Group at St John's, Worsthorne, next Tuesday, February 11, at 8pm. A pie and peas supper will be served on the night.

WORSTHORNE Church are appealing for more volunteers to join the catering and bar teams.

THE Mayor of Burnley, Councillor Gordon Birtwistle, was delighted to receive a cheque for £1,500 for his Scanner Appeal from St. John's Christmas Appeal. Thank you to everyone for their generosity.

WORSTHORNE Mothers' Union will hold their Wave of Prayer in church next Tuesday, Febraury 11, at 2pm. This will be preceded by lunch at the Thornton Arms and all are welcome. On February 18 Carole Hall from Home Start, an organisation which helps young families who may be experiencing difficulties, will be the guest speaker.
