TESTS are being carried out on a middle-aged woman found dead by her husband at their home, an inquest was told.

Pauline Barnes Storey, 55, was found by her husband Dennis at Cross Street West, Colne, on January 31. He later identified her.

Coroner's officer Bob Wilson told the inquest opening, at Rawtenstall Town Hall, a quantity of alcohol and tablets had been taken. The results of toxicology tests were being awaited and more enquiries into the circumstances of the woman's death were being made.

A burial was being planned.
