YOU don't need a mathematics degree to know Accrington Stanley are handily placed with a little over a third of the season remaining - but the Reds are going to let the numbers take care of themselves.

With an 11-point lead at the top of the UniBond Premier League Stanley could be forgiven for feeling they are home and hosed.

Even sides with significant games in hand on the leaders - the likes of Vauxhall Motors and Worksop - can't make up the ground.

Their goal difference is also seven superior to the next best record, held by the Motors, but Stanley manager John Coleman is not about to let his squad's focus slip from gaining promotion to the Nationwide Conference.

With no injury problems to report Coleman can create competition enough in his own camp and winger Rory Prendergast felt that there was not one member of the Reds squad who could afford to let his standards slip.

"It is a big squad and with everybody fit the competition for places is hot," said Prendergast.

"I am up against two other wingers in Dean Calcutt and Russell Payne and really the manager can play us in whatever pairing he likes.

"It could be any permutation of two from the three of us, so you know you have got to do well and impress every time you get a chance."

Prendergast, signed for £7,500 just before Christmas from Bradford Park Avenue, looks set to line up on the opposite flank to another former Horsfall Stadium player in Dean Calcutt as the Reds face Yorkshire opposition tomorrow.

Harrogate Town are the visitors to the Crown Ground and Stanley will be looking to exact revenge on the Wetherby Road club who knocked them out of this season's FA Cup competition.

The North Yorkshiremen started the season strongly, in fact they were the table-toppers in the opening weeks before being out-stripped by Stanley, but they have slipped into mid-table.

However, Prendergast felt no team could be taken lightly and said: "We do have to be a bit wary.

"The reason I came to this club was because it was a good club and one moving up, and it has been a great move for me.

"But you can't take anything for granted and all we can do is keep going, keep trying to get the points and we will relax when we have won it.

"We are at home against Harrogate and, with the great backing we get from our fans, we will want to do well but all we can do is concentrate on playing as well as we did when we beat Runcorn last week and pick up three points."
