A PAINTING of the old Darwen market hall is up for auction to raise money for people living with cancer.
Debbie Snape, who works on the three-day market, decided to donate the painting which was bought for her grandfather for his 80th birthday, 17 years ago.
She said: "It's a lovely painting and we hope it will raise a lot of money for the Macmillan Cancer charity."
The event, including dinner, will be held at Whitehall Country Club, Darwen, on Thursday, March 6 and tickets will cost £20.
Brenda Cronshaw said: "We have already had a bid of £20 for the painting but more money would be gratefully accepted for this very important cause."
Guests are asked to arrive at 7.30pm for 8pm. For tickets contact 01254 773044.
