A BURY teenager has been killed in a car crash in Whalley Road, Shuttleworth.
Police said the 18-year-old, who has not been named, was a front seat passenger in a Peugeot 306 which collided with a brick wall and lamp post near the Duckworth Arms pub.
The accident happened at 10.10pm when the Peugeot, being driven by a 36-year-old Bury man, was heading north along the road.
It was in the process of overtaking a black cab when the driver saw an oncoming car and pulled quickly to the nearside pavement, hitting a brick wall before colliding with a lamp post.
The 18-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Fairfield Hospital, Bury, where he later died.
Three rear seat passengers in the Peugeot suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the car has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
