RADCLIFFE High School headteacher Graham Rollinson jets off to Washington DC next week to share his leadership skills with America.
The eight-day visit has been organised by the International Headteacher and Senior Leader Placements Programme and is designed to create a global exchange of ideas about school leadership.
The work done by Radcliffe High School and Mr Rollinson in providing a truly inclusive education experience has been recognised by the DfES and has resulted in Mr Rollinson being invited to represent the British Education System on this international study visit where he will share his ideas with colleagues working in 'challenging schools' in Washington.
He is one of just 150 headteachers invited on special study visits this year and before going he had to outline leadership and school improvement objectives, which he will report on when he returns.
On his first day in the American capital Mr Rollinson will learn about the education system in the host country. He and the rest of his group will then spend the bulk of the rest of their time each working with a headteacher in a downtown school. The group gathers together each night for reflection and discussion. Each group is accompanied by a facilitator whose job is to encourage and develop dialogue and ensure the visit goes smoothly.
