RUGBY league returned to Giant Axe on Sunday as the new Lancaster Rugby Club met for its first training session.
A healthy turn-out, backed up by a growing number of registered players, brought a mix of skills together for the first time.
Players at the informal session came from as far afield as Skipton and Wigan, including former London Broncos' Canada international Marc Simon.
Marc, who also has previous Rugby League Conference experience with North London Skolars, is keen to get involved with Lancaster in the inaugural season.
"Many of the lads are new to rugby league and about half don't have a club locally," says club spokesman Richard de la Riviere. "Training will be taking place every Sunday afternoon at Giant Axe from now on and we hope to add a second session during the week."
Training starts at 3.30pm this Sunday - all are welcome, just take boots and suitable kit! There is also food available for a small charge in the Dolly Blue Tavern later. For more information, call Richard on 01524-68085.
