COLDPLAY, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Foo Fighters, David Gray, Queens of the Stone Age, Underworld, PJ Harvey, Ash and Lemon Jelly are just a few of the names to be announced for the V Festival this week.

Tickets for the popular weekend event, due to take place at Weston Park, Staffordshire and Hylands Park, Chelmsford on August 16 and 17, go on sale tomorrow .

Festival organisers say this year's line-up is their biggest and best.

Director Bob Angus commented: "Every year, first weekend ticket sales outdo the previous year, but this weekend looks set to beat all previous records following the booking of two of the highest profile bands currently riding high in the UK chart.

"Coldplay stand at number four and the Chilli Peppers are at five in the album chart this week, months after release, so to say these bands are huge right now would be an understatement.

"With plenty more acts to announce in the coming months, we're looking forward to another hugely successful V Festival."

Dance fans have a reason to get down there too. For the first time, a nightclub is being built on site, while sponsors Virgin Mobile are even laying on "Virgin Angels" to help people pitch tents.
