ALAN Kelly today revealed he wants to sign a new deal with Blackburn Rovers.

Kelly's current contract is due to expire in the summer, but following talks with manager Graeme Souness, he is ready to sign up for another year.

"I've had some discussions with the manager and he has intimated that he wants me to stay for another year so I've just got to talk to John Williams now and see where we go from there," said Kelly.

"But I'm happy to stay for another year. The set-up is great here, I'm playing with a great set of lads, we've just had a great week away in Spain, and I'd be delighted to stay on."

Kelly has been restricted to just a handful of appearances during the last two seasons following the arrival of Brad Friedel from Liverpool on a free.

The former Republic of Ireland international still believes he can do a job in the Premiership and his experience could be vital in helping to bring a younger understudy through next season.

"I would have thought the club are probably looking to bring another young goalkeeper in now," added Kelly.

"Ryan Robinson is already here and he's done very well in the reserves this season so it just depends on what they want to do.

"I'll be 35 in the summer but we'll just go from there. I'll keep training, keep getting on with it, and keep enjoying it for as long as I can.

"And if it works out that I stay at Blackburn then I'll be delighted."

Young Notts County keeper Saul Deeney is among a number of players the club is keeping tabs on.
