A 22-year-old man suffered serious head injuries in a three car smash on the A59 near Chatburn.
Andrew Metcalf, of St Peters Close, Salesbury, was in collision with two cars at 4.45pm yesterday in Pendle Road.
He was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary after fire crews cut him from the car.
Paul Clegg, 27, of Chester Avenue, Clitheroe, was also taken to hospital suffering whiplash.
A third man, David Newton, 39, of Stonyhurst, escaped unhurt.
