ACCRINGTON Stanley are not going to be allowed to ease up in their pursuit of the UniBond Premier League title - mainly because of the main man in the dressing room.

There is not a single Reds player who thinks the side is past the winning post and into the Nationwide Conference yet, despite an 11 point lead with 10 games to go, and that is down to manager John Coleman.

"We have had a good season, but there have been so many games where in some way or another we have let ourselves down and John lets us know that," said 25-goal striker Lutel James.

"It is like having your own Tasmanian Devil in the dressing room the way he goes off, but I don't care how many times he screams at us because he is a winner and he wants the best for this club and all the players.

"John knows, and we know, that we are the best team in the division.

"The results don't lie and neither does the table, but we also all know that we have not played to our potential.

"We can be a lot better and we will reap the rewards of that when we start playing at our best."

Yet again former Bury front-runner James has been prolific in front of goal and, along with strike partner Paul Mullin, he has already topped the 20-goal mark for the season.

But while there is friendly competition between the pair, what matters to them both - and the rest of the squad- is to get over that championship winning line sooner rather than later.

"The other week the club secretary accidentally attributed one of Paul's goals to me and I wasn't going to let him have it back," laughed James.

"But there is no way that we have an attitude of 'I'm going to get more goals than you' - it wouldn't work as a partnership if we did.

"All anyone at the club is bothered about is that we have got 10 games to play and we have got to win as many of those games as possible and get ourselves into the Conference."

The Reds' title trail continues tomorrow with a trip to Lancaster City.

Of the sides trying to hunt Stanley down, second-placed Stalybridge are at home to Hucknall, third-placed Barrow are at home to Harrogate, while the teams with games in hand, Vauxhall Motors and Worksop Town, are away to Frickley and Colwyn Bay respectively.
