A WOULD-be carjacker used a stun gun three times on a pensioner as he tried to wrestle the car keys from him, a court heard on Friday.

Kevin Draper put the stun gun to 66-year-old Brian Coffey's temple three times and pressed the trigger.

Each time the pensioner felt incredible pain as pulses of electricity surged through his head.

But, despite being in agony, the brave victim fought back and managed to break free only to be floored again by Draper, who kicked him and stamped on his chest.

The furious fight was seen by passing police officers who managed to drag Draper from the driving seat of Coffey's car just as he was about to drive off.

On Friday, Draper, aged 33, of Car Bank Avenue, Hag Fold, Atherton, appeared at Bolton Crown Court for sentence.

Draper admitted robbery, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of amphetamines.

Recorder Craig Sephton QC jailed him for four-and-a-half years and branded the offence a "disgrace".

He told Draper: "This was a terrible offence. You assaulted an old man, trying to get his car keys.

"First you assaulted and wrestled him to try to get the car keys and then you used a stun gun on him three times. The victim said he was terrified."

The court heard that Draper had expressed remorse over his actions and felt sympathy for his victim.
