RAMSBOTTOM'S recent good run came to an end against third-placed Newcastle Town.

After a dour opening 25-minutes, the game finally came to life when the Rams opened the scoring on the half-hour.

Glyn Barker latched onto a through ball and lobbed onrushing goalkeeper Rob Cooper. Dave Woodvine got back to scoop the ball off the line but his clearance fell straight to the feet of Doni Clarke who scored from eight yards.

Clarke then missed a penalty and Newcastle hit back in the second half and Andy Bott equalised.

Newcastle took the lead five minutes later after poor marking from a corner left Mark Beeston in space at the far post and his header sailed past Marsh.

Marsh then saved a penalty from Harris before Paul Kiely finished clinically on 79 minutes.

The Rams got a goal back through Barker's 18-yard strike but didn't have enough for an equaliser.
