I OBJECT to the term 'public open space' being used to describe the plot of land referred to on Larch Road, Oswaldtwistle (LET, May 17). At no point in history has this land been public in any way.

It currently is and always has been under private ownership. The fact that residents on and around Larch Road have used this land for their own purposes does not make it public.

I also feel the term 'developers' to be misleading. The land currently has two houses built on it which were built by friends and relatives of previous owners. The building of these properties was not profit-motivated in any way.
