AN UNTIDY council tenant is set to be evicted after neighbours complained about him turning his garden into a junkyard.

It is claimed that the tenant, a single man in his 40s , repeatedly ignored orders to clear items from the front garden of the council-owned four bedroom property on Park Road in Blackpool.

Car parts, furniture and unwanted household appliances are among the rubbish which has attracted a number of complaints from local residents and councillors.

Now Blackpool Borough Council have been granted a court property possession order, after it was deemed the tenant had breached his tenancy agreement under the terms of the Housing Act, 1985.

Head of Landlord Services at Blackpool Borough Council, Peter Jefferson said,

"Keeping a garden area in such a poor state as to bring complaints from neighbours and councillors is an issue we take very seriously.

As a result of the court hearing we are seeking a bailiff's warrant so we can take possession of the property as soon as possible."

BLACKPOOL'S very own Great Uncle Bulgaria who has gone missing after a court order gave council officials the power to evict him from his decaying abode.

As the Citizen revealed (February 27) Dennis Bostock, 62, of Bloomfield Road, has spent the last 26 years rifling through rubbish bags in the resort searching for items to fill his home.

In February this year environmental health officers were granted a court order to sell his semi-detached house to pay council clearing costs of £12,000 after environmental health officers.

But since then, Mr Bostock has not been seen.

A council spokesman said: "Legal proceedings are ongoing and the council is seeking Mr Bostock in order to serve legal papers."
