ACCRINGTON Stanley have agreed terms with former Burnley captain Paul Cook.

The midfielder has yet to put pen to paper but agreed a one-year deal with the Nationwide Conference club last night.

Stanley chairman Eric Whalley said: "Paul hasn't signed yet but we have agreed everything and I can't see any problems.

"There won't be many Conference sides who can say they have someone who captained their side in the First Division last season.

"He will be a brilliant signing for us because he will bring experience to what is a young side.

"And he will be a good voice in the changing room, especially after losing Mike Marsh."

Former Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tranmere player Cook scored 15 goals for Burnley in 168 appearances after signing on a free transfer from Stockport County.

Stanley will parade the UniBond Premier Division trophy during a civic ceremony at Accrington Town Hall tomorrow at 1.30pm.
