BURNLEY bosses plan to boost the club's coffers by using TWO shirt sponsors next season.

Clarets boss Stan Ternent has his hands tied this summer as he looks to sign a host of players with no transfer funds at his disposal.

Disappointing Turf Moor season ticket sales have also contributed to the cash crisis spreading like wildfire among other Nationwide League clubs.

Computer specialists Lanway Computers are the front-runners to sponsor a new-look home kit after seeing their current two-year deal expire.

But talks are already underway with a number of other local (and national) companies to provide a welcome cash boost by having their name emblazoned across a new Burnley away strip, also due to hit the shops this summer.

Clarets' Chief Executive Andrew Watson said: "Lanway want to continue with their sponsorship, which is great news because they have a great relationship with the club.

"But they have asked us to look at sharing the sponsorship next season and talks in that

area are now ongoing.

"I know quite a few other clubs have two different sponsors for their strips and it's becoming quite popular."

Lanway Sales director, James Rigg, added: "We think it's a great idea. As a North West-based business, we are looking to penetrate the local market, which means that when Burnley play down south, few people have heard of our brand name.

"This exercise allows a company to come in, help the club and put their brand forward to potentially a new market."

Manchester United, Aston Villa and Newcastle are among the high-profile clubs who have carried two different sponsors logos in recent years.

Meanwhile, Watson is keeping the two new shirt designs a closely-guarded secret until their official launch later this summer.

"But he tantalisingly revealed the famous claret-and-blue home kit would carry a "traditional element".

Watson added" "We agreed with Official Supporters Clubs a couple of years ago that we would change the strips every season.

"The fans said that it was for the good of the club and if we can repeat last season's total of around 12,000 sales, then we will be delighted."
