ACCRINGTON Stanley could follow in the footsteps of Premiership neighbours Blackburn Rovers by launching their own Academy.
The Nationwide Conference newcomers are looking into forming a youth set-up at the Crown Ground.
Reds' chairman Eric Whalley believes it's the way forward for Non League clubs. And manager John Coleman has just completed a teacher training course, giving Stanley the incentive to set up the scheme.
"We are looking at putting an educational programme together, bringing youngsters on within the football club and working with a local college - like an Academy style set-up," Whalley said.
"John has completed his teacher training and he is a qualified coach as well, so we're looking to establish a proper youth team set-up.
"The youngsters we take on will do so many hours at the college and so many hours at the football club. We wanted to discovering and bringing on talented youngsters.
"If anyone's good enough to make it in football, we want to be the ones who find them, like the Brett Ormerod's of this world."
