MORE than 100 cannabis plants, with a street value of around £2,000, have been seized in a raid at a house in Nelson.

Officers executed the search warrant at the house in Manor Street.

The property was targeted by officers after residents highlighted it as potentially being linked to drug-related activity.

The action was part of a police crackdown on drug dealers and users in the town.

It followed a number of raids in the Southfield and Marsden areas, which have led to the a number of arrests for drug-related offences.

PC Dave Richardson, who led the raid, said: " Anybody using or dealing any type of illicit drugs in Nelson are not welcome in the town.

“The Nelson neighbourhood policing team has recently carried out a number of successful warrants and intend to continue so.

"We ask members of the public to let the police know if they suspect anybody involved in cultivating, dealing or using illicit drugs."
