LEIGH recorded their tenth league win of the season over third-placed Fleetwood Hesketh.

Leigh got off to a solid start due to an opening partnership of 67 between Paul Blackburn and Steven Young before Young was caught trying to up the scoring rate.

Greg Jennings then continued to pile on the runs before eventually falling lbw with Leigh on 136-2. Nick Jones had a brief visit but, with Blackburn going well at the other end, they still took the score to 145.

After Blackburn finally fell for 68 with the score on 158, Kieran Grundy and Pete Taylor took Leigh to the all important 180, giving them four batting points, before declaring and offering Fleetwood a fighting chance to reach the target.

Fleetwood got off to a fast start and scored at a healthy rate, taking them to within three runs of victory only for James Eccleshare and Jennings to pick off their last two wickets in a dramatic finish to the match.
