A SCHOOL governor who died earlier this year is to be remembered by pupils in a special area of the playground.
Pupils at Fairfield Primary School, in Rochdale Road, Bury, now have a friendship corner, with a bench dedicated to Mrs Jean Routledge.
The children are invited to use the bench when they feel they need a friend or if they do not feel like joining in the rough and tumble of the usual playtime.
Chris Ashley, headteacher at the school, said: "Mrs Routledge was a great friend to the pupils. It's nice that we now have something at the school that will hopefully carry on her excellent work."
