A 96-year-old woman was pushed aside by a thief after she answered a knock at the door of her Bury home.

The pensioner answered her front door on Hardmans Road, Whitefield, but was pushed out of the way as the offender entered.

He searched the house and stole an amount of cash during the attack, which happened on Thursday, July 17 at around 4.15pm. The victim was shocked but suffered no apparent injuries.

The burglar is described as a tall, thin male wearing a fawn coloured cordruoy suit. He had a local accent and was in his late 20s to early 30s.
