DAVID Dunn is ready for all that Burnley fans have to throw at him tomorrow.

The former Blackburn midfielder heads for Turf Moor with his new Birmingham team-mates for the Clarets final pre-season friendly.

But Dunn, who made the £5.5m switch to St Andrews in the summer, expects Clarets fans to remember his close ties with their near-neighbours.

He said: "I know I can expect a nice reception from the Burnley fans and to be honest, I'd be disappointed if they didn't give me some stick.

"They are a pretty passionate bunch and you have to respect that. I knew when I signed for Birmingham we had Burnley in a pre-season friendly and that took my fancy!

"I'm sure the comments might not be to my liking, but I'll just concentrate on playing the game."

Dunn added: "I haven't got a T-shirt prepared in case I score. It's only a pre-season friendly - if it was in a competitive game then maybe - but I'm sure it will be good fun.

"Burnley have just beaten Leeds and are doing quite well. I was speaking to Paul Weller and Glen Little on holiday and we were talking about the club and how they haven't got any money.

"But the manager, Stan Ternent, has done a good job there, got some sort of a squad together and they look like they will do all right."

Birmingham are looking to consolidate again after a solid first season back in the top flight.

Dunn is relishing his new challenge - and revealed he once again feels wanted in the Midlands after a bitter end to his time at Blackburn.

He added: "Steve Bruce has been brilliant. The biggest difference I've found is playing for a manager when you feel wanted.

"He believes in me, and sometimes when I was at Blackburn I doubted myself. But that was one of those things.

"I enjoyed my time at Blackburn and it will always be a special place to me, but I have a new challenge now.

"The gaffer has signed Christophe Dugarry and he's trying to bring a few more new faces in to get more comfortable on the ball.

"It's a club on the up and there's no way I would have joined Birmingham if I thought they were going to be in a a relegation battle.

"I looked around and saw the players they have and they're certainly a team looking to do well.

"It would certainly be nice to be challenging for Europe with Rovers - even better if we could finish above them."

The last time Dunn played at Turf Moor, Kevin Ball was sent off for 'over the top' tackle on the Rovers midfielder.

Birmingham will be without French striker Christophe Dugarry for the trip north. The former World Cup winner misses the game through a family bereavement after also picking up a knee injury in the recent trip to Malaysia

Midfield terrier Robbie Savage is, however, expected to recover from a slight groin strain to play alongside Dunn in the Blues engine room.
