POLICE in Leyland arrested eight people on Wednesday morning (July30) after drug raids on several homes in the town.

The dawn swoops involved more than 100 officers and a quantity of cannabis was seized as part of Operation Nimrod.

Two other people, believed to be associated with the raids, were also arrested.

All are understood to be helping police with their inquiries.

Superintendent Stephen Watson operations manager for the Southern Division, based at Leyland police station, said: "We have been able to repay the trust of those who have assisted us and we are confident that we will have contributed to an improved quality of life for those many decent people who are fed up with the criminals whose sole purpose in life is to destroy communities and to shatter young lives through the supplying of hard drugs".
