A NEW name has been added to the ever-expanding list of companies offering discounts to members of the Bury FC Supporters' Society (Forever Bury).

It is the Kalamaki Restaurant and Taverna which is offering a 10 per cent discount (on meals only) to members of the Bury FC Society who produce a membership card.

A table can be booked by telephoning 0030821-32093.

If that seems a long telephone number there is a reason.

The Kalamaki Restaurant is situated in the village of Kalamaki on the Greek Island of Crete!

Dave Giffard, who signed the restaurant up while on holiday must have had his tongue in his check when he announced the latest member of the discount scheme.

Nevertheless, it serves to remind us of the long list of local firms providing goods and services which are offering discounts to members on production of a membership card.

The list can be consulted on the Forever Bury website or on the Society's noticeboard in the foyer of the Gigg Lane Social Club.

Also shops and other organisations offering a discount should be displaying a notice to that effect.

Another special offer which is not a "Forever Bury" enterprise but which could be of interest to some supporters is the offer of Horners Bury Ltd, to refund the cost of a season ticket at Gigg Lane to purchasers of a Skoda car from their Heywood Street showrooms. This offer is on top of other inducements.

Apology time: The gremlins got at us last week in mentioning the Duck Race at Burrs Country Park, when the date of the event somehow disappeared from the copy.

The Race and associated Fun Day will, of course, take place on Sunday, August 24, with the race itself starting at 3pm.

Before that there is another Car Boot sale at Gigg Lane this coming Sunday, August, 3.

Now that Gordon is back in harness at the club, plans are afoot to create a section of the Bury FC website devoted to the history of the club.

Accordingly, the call has gone out to any supporters who have items of interest, videos, literary references etc, concerning the club, to please get in touch with a view to their material being incorporated on the website.
