I WRITE regarding the lack of safety measures on Metrolink for their over-charged customers and staff. It is poorly supervised and policed by CCTV, and we deserve much better for the money we pay to use it.
There are gangs of non-paying youths who travel on the trams, preying on the elderly and the young. They know where Metrolink staff and police are at any one time, and place themselves at certain stations, talking to each other by mobile phone and looking for vulnerable people.
Why is it that prices on Metrolink are so high yet it is the least supervised? Where is all the money going? Certainly not on the safety of the passengers! Why are there no cameras on the trams? Why are the stations so poorly policed and why, when there is an incident on the station, can Metrolink not produce a good quality CCTV video?
