EWOOD outcast John Curtis could be facing Rovers next season.

The Rovers defender, who is not in the squad to face Wigan at the JJB Stadium today (3pm kick-off), is currently interesting a mystery Premiership club.

And Curtis, 24, whose career has been in virtual limbo since Lucas Neill snatched the right back spot, seems certain to move on if any deal can be agreed.

Blues chief executive John Williams revealed: "There is a bit of interest in John from another Premiership side, but nothing has been agreed yet."

Curtis, who was manager Graeme Souness's first signing for £1.5m from Manchester United in the summer of 2000, made an impressive start to life at Blackburn and played every league game in Rovers subsequent promotion back to the top flight.

But the following season, injuries sidelined the former England U21 defender and allowed Australian Neill to grasp his opportunity.

He ended up playing just 16 games, and that figure dropped even lower last term as he ended up with just seven appearances to his name before seeing out the season at Bramall Lane, where only a play-off final defeat to Wolves denied Neil Warnock's men a Premiership place.

Curtis's last game in a blue and white shirt came last February in the 3-0 league defeat at Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive John Williams is delighted after finally sealing the deal to bring Vratislav Gresko back to Ewood Park.

He said: "We are delighted to officially add Vratislav to our squad after signing a three-year deal for a fee of around £1.2m."

Earlier this week, Rovers were granted a work permit.

Rovers are hoping Matt Jansen will be fit to play some part in today's friendly at Wigan at the JJB Stadium (3pm).

Graeme Souness is expected to field a similar side to the one which beat Blackpool on Wednesday.

That means another run out for Steven Reid and Brett Emerton.

Rovers' reserves face Morecambe at Christie Park today (3pm).

American keeper David Yelldell is set to make his second Rovers' appearance on English soil following his clean sheet at Leigh RMI.

Egil Ostenstad and Corrado Grabbi will be in attack, John Curtis at full back and Alan Mahon and Neil Danns in midfield.

The side is: Yelldell, Curtis, Morgan, Donnelly, Taylor Michael, Fitzgerald, Watt, Grabbi, Ostenstad, Mahon, Nelson, Renton, Bruce, Harkins, Black. Rovers under 17s were due to face international opposition with a prestige friendly against the repsective US National team at Brockhall this morning.

"We received a phone call from their coach asking for a game," said boss Ian Miller.

"Naturally, we jumped at the chance. I know the Americans are on the up and up at this level, they beat England in a tournament not too long ago."

Rovers have released details of tickets for the forthcoming derby match with Manchester City at Ewood Park on Monday August 25, kick-off 8 pm.

It is a Category A game and category A prices apply, and no tickets will be available on the day.

Supporters with a record of purchasing tickets for home league games during season 2002-2003 can purchase tickets for this match.
