REGARDING the comments (Letters, August 7) about horse droppings, they struck me because as I walked my two dogs down to Witton Park, in Blackburn, the previous Sunday when there was some form of horse parade was on, I noticed so much horse droppings on the public footpaths.
I was bewildered.
Why is it that others who do not pick up dog dirt can receive a fine of up to £500, yet people who own horses get no punishment whatsoever.
I find this very hypocritical as I have to walk round with plastic bags for my pets' dirt, yet the horse droppings I saw were nearly the size of my Yorkshire terrier.
The council who employ people to watch dog owners should consider fines for horses fouling public footpaths or public areas like Witton Park, canal walkways and also football pitches.
