PENDLE Council looks set to approve plans for an environment-friendly alternative to conventional burials.
An area has already been designated for green burials at Barrowford Cemetery but a pricing structure has to be set up before the service can be offered.
A report to be discussed by the environment, leisure and rural affairs review committee at its next meeting on Tuesday, August 26, recommends that green burials should be subject to the same pricing scheme as conventional burials. It states there is already interest in the service and that it would be likely to increase once the Barrowford pilot scheme was up and running.
