RADCLIFFE Borough manager Kevin Glendon gives you his thoughts on all things football, starting with a look at how Conference aspirations will be spurring clubs on this season

RADCLIFFE Borough are on the up and up and I want us to aim as high as we can this season.

Promotion to the UniBond Premier Division has already got people thinking of higher things and the Conference is on everybody's lips.

Although the club that wins the Premier Division will get promoted to the Conference proper, I have set my sights a little lower.

My aim is for Radcliffe Borough to get into the new Northern Conference -- and to do that we will have to finish in the top 13 in the Premier Division.

That's still quite a big ask considering we have only just got promoted up from UniBond Division One and we will be facing the likes of Southport, Barrow, Stalybridge and Altrincham this coming season.

They all have money to spend and Alfreton, who came up with us, have also signed seven new players.

We haven't changed things much. We have basically got the same set of players with three or four new faces.

A lot of money has been spent on the ground. Over £30,000 went towards the building of the new dressing room complex and we intend to do one or two other things round the ground such as turnstiles and new toilet blocks to comply with the requirements should we qualify for the Northern Conference.

Once all that is completed maybe we will have a bit more money to spend on the playing side.

Talk of the Conference proper as far as Radcliffe Borough are concerned might sound pie in the sky to some, but Leigh RMI have done it on very poor gates, so I don't see why we can't. I would like to believe we could support a Conference club in the Bury area.

Although we only average around the 200 mark, our attendance figures are not a worry for me. Quite a few more people have come along to watch us over the last couple of years and I am sure the attraction of the likes of Southport, Barrow and Altrincham will bring a few more in this season.

Should we ever get into the Conference, the interest that will generate will surely be reflected in the gate figures.

But we have to forget about all that and concentrate on getting into that top 13 in the UniBond Premier this season. Everything else can wait!
