PETER Anthony Cox, 43, of Mowbray Avenue, Blackburn, was disqualified from driving for two years and fined £150 with £65 costs by Blackburn magistrates after pleading guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

Cox, who gave a reading of 115 against the legal limit of 35, agreed to be referred to the drink drive rehabilitation programme which, if completed successfully, would reduce his ban by up to 25 per cent.

Louise Voce, defending, said Cox had received several phone calls from his teenage son "nagging" him for a lift home.

"He initially said no but finally gave in to his son's request and was on his way to Witton Park when he was stopped," said Miss Voce.
