NEW-look Nelson began the season with a well-deserved victory against difficult opponents Daisy Hill at New Sirs on Saturday.
The Blues got off to a great start when Paul Barrett slid the ball through to Craig Bradshaw, who beat the advancing keeper on 10 minutes.
Although the Blues enjoyed a period of supremacy, Daisy Hill were strong in midfield and tried to hit back after 25 minutes when Billy Carrington was called into action to turn a good shot round the post.
However, Nelson always looked likely to increase their lead with Steve Whittaker displaying some dazzling footwork on the left wing.
The game was end to end in the second half and Nelson scored their second with five minutes remaining. A Daisy Hill corner was cleared, Paul Sconce's cross was helped on by Paul Howarth and the ball dropped to captain Andy Howarth, who forced the ball home.
