YOUNGSTERS from Pendle who enjoyed a summer of football coaching sessions organised by the Prince's Trust competed in a special tournament.

The day of matches, held at Edge End County High School, in Hibson Road, Nelson, which ended with a prize-giving ceremony was the final event for teenagers who have taken part in training sessions and matches throughout the school holiday. About 40 young people took part in the tournament, but more than 60 have been involved in the scheme.

Julie Bateman, from the Prince's Trust, said it had been a great success.

She added: "The idea was to give young people in the area something to do through the summer. They have taken part in coaching sessions and matches and today's tournament was the end result. Part of the idea was also to build bridges between communities and we have had a really good mixture of kids getting involved."
