IN-FORM Ian Moore is champing at the bit to get Burnley back to winning ways this weekend.

The Clarets striker has been a frustrated spectator for the opening week of the season after picking up a suspension last May.

Clarets boss Stan Ternent needs all hands on deck against Wigan at Turf Moor on Saturday to arrest two defeats and haul his side off the foot of Division One.

And after completing his three-match ban, Moore is hoping Ternent will give him the green light to resume his stunning pre-season form and let him loose on the Latics defence.

He said: "I can't wait to get back to be honest. After scoring five goals in pre-season it was just about my best ever goals return.

"There was a time I remember getting four in six (games), and it's nice to be in such a rich vein of form.

"But the frustrating thing is then having to sit out games when the lads need a helping hand and I want to continue if I'm given the chance on Saturday."

Moore, whose recent haul has included goals against Wrexham in the Isle of Man, a double against Leeds and further strikes against Accrington Stanley and Birmingham, reckons Clarets fans need not panic at the current predicament.

The onus lies squarely on the shoulders of the strikers to score the goals that will put points on the board.

And Moore, 27 next Tuesday, would like nothing better than to be celebrating a few goals and six points after facing Wigan and Gillingham over August Bank Holiday weekend.

He added: "Anyone who went to last Saturday's match would tell you that West Brom never deserved to win by three goals and 4-1 was a real injustice.

"I've travelled to every game so far and we have been creating so many chances. You can't help but sit there and wonder whether you could have got on the end of some of them.

"But the boys have been playing really well and we just have to keep plugging away and I'm sure the results will change.

"We have a bit more speed in the team at the moment with the addition of Lee Roche and Luke Chadwick.

"They give us more attacking options and with the big man, Gareth Taylor, being out at the moment it's up to me and Robbie Blake to try and get a few goals and ease the pressure."
