CAMPAIGNERS have resumed their fight to have a footpath to the M65 Services closed.

The mainly elderly residents of Redvers Road, Darwen, say teenagers cut through the road to get to the new McDonald's restaurant.

Campaigner Stuart Chelton said: "Kids come down the road and drop litter. It is so much noisier now. There are many elderly people on this road and it frightens them. It needs to be stopped."

Home-owners petitioned Blackburn with Darwen Council earlier in the year and council officers are continuing to look into the problem.

Stuart added: "We've waited for more than six months and nothing's happened. It's about time something was sorted out."
