A 24-YEAR-OLD Blackburn man who stabbed an eight-year-old boy in his leg has been jailed for two years.

Preston Crown Court was told the incident followed a feud over the disposal of a house.

Imran Mughal had come to this country from Pakistan 12 months ago and become involved.

He was found guilty after a trial in June of wounding with intent and making a threat to kill the boy's sister on the same date.

Richard Orme, prosecuting, told the court the boy had been left with a cut at the back of his left knee after being stabbed with a penknife with a blade 4 or 5in long.

Before leaving the scene he told the boy's sister: "I'm going to get you. I'm going to kill you, one at a time."

Mr Orme said the background to the attack stemmed from the disposal of a house in Blackburn.

Roderick Priestley, defending, said the offence was a disturbing by-product of a long-standing feud.

Mughal, an art student, had come to this country as a result of an arranged marriage.

Judge Michael Byrne told Mughal he had become sucked into the feud that had been going on for some time before he came to this country. He said he did not regard Mughal a risk to the general public.

Judge Byrne added: "Whatever the circumstances, violence like this in the street can never be tolerated in any circumstances whatsoever."

An order was made prohibiting the identification of the boy.
