THIS week, with Jennifer Rennie, 53, curator at Haworth Art Gallery, Accrington...

I LIVE in Chorley, so I aim to get to work for 8am every morning, partly because the traffic's less busy and so I can get sorted out.

It's a very varied job -- sometimes I have to be wearing dungarees and sometimes a smart suit.

On Monday I was on the M6 at 7.15am to collect a loan of prints from Stoke-on-Trent then I had to unpack them when I got back, so that was a very practical job.

But on Thursday I was showing the mayor around, so it just depends what's happening.

At lunchtime I often go for a walk in the park, although my job doesn't finish there. I get people asking me questions about what time we open, or telling me how long they've been visiting the gallery. People also ask me to give my opinion on pictures they own, although we don't do valuations.

In the afternoons I may do educational workshops or guided tours. Some visitors get us muddled up with the Bronte Museum at Haworth, so I have to set them straight.

It's such an interesting and varied job I wouldn't want to change it.
