SHAKERS goalkeeper Glynn Garner and defender Danny Swailes joined forces with Robbie the Bobby on the Millgate shopping centre last week to promote the forthcoming Forever Bury Duck Race.

The popular event, which raises funds for the Bury FC supporters' trust, will be held next Sunday (August 24) at Burrs Country Park.

The Mayor of Bury, Coun Wilf Davison, will get the race up and running at 3pm and there should be plenty to keep everyone occupied all afternoon with loads of Fun Day attractions at the Brown Cow pub, commencing at 12pm.

The event - which boasts a £500 first prize - was a huge success last year and helped raise much-needed cash for the trust.

In all, 2,750 ducks were sold last year and the trust is hoping to at least match that figure this year.

Incidentally, among the winners last year was ex-Manchester City star Shaun Goater!

Forever Bury members will also be selling ducks all week in Asda Marketside, Bury while for latecomers they will be available on the day.
