TRAFFIC calming schemes costing £30,000 will be put into place in the East Rural ward next year.
A new zebra crossing will appear on Hoddlesden Road between the Ranken Arms pub and Hoddlesden Conservative Club.
Improvements are also planned for the nearby footpath on Carus Avenue.
White lines will be added to Johnson Road, giving greater priority to pedestrians and cyclists, while Long Hey Lane will benefit from bollards to protect a drain from damage by vehicles.
Coun Fred Slater said: "The East Rural Community Regeneration Board has been discovering how best to meet local priorities with funds allocated by the council.
"We made decisions last month in order to address residents' concerns about safety. The schemes will be carried out before next March."
