A FORMER supermarket site in Burnley town centre has been brought back to life with the creation of 32 new jobs.
The Staples stationery store at the former Sainsbury's site in Church Street was officially opened by the Mayor of Burnley, Councillor Lilian Clark, on Saturday.
The site will be soon be fully occupied for the first time since the superstore left in April 2001 to move to the former Prestige site in Active Way. The new store was welcomed by secretary of the Burnley and District Chamber of Trade, Rita Walsh, who said: "The store should be a great asset to that end of town and is a very welcome development."
Ian Tattersall, Staples district manager said: "We will be looking to develop strong relationships with local businesses and the local community, through a series of business-focused activities, commencing with a business event in September."
