CYCLES of all shapes and sizes were on display as the East Lancs Bike Festival rolled into Nelson at the weekend.

The event in Victoria Park on Saturday featured a huge range of displays, activities and information about biking in the area. It was organised to promote cycling by providing practical advice, as well as offering exciting displays from stunt bikers. There was also a display of historic cycles including a penny farthing. Mark Sandamas, organiser, said: "The festival showed how cycling can be enjoyed by all ages.

"It was also a great opportunity for people to find out where they can cycle safely in their area and about plans to further develop routes."

A series of weekend rides are being held until November. Details are available from local cycle shops and Pennine Events on 01282 814738.
