WALKERS can now take a hike round some of Lancashire's finest countryside without setting foot outside their homes -- thanks to a new internet service.
The Pennine Moor village of Edgworth is the first location to be featured on Lancashire County Council's environment website. The new Heritage Trail, which takes walkers on a two-hour ramble past roman roads, 17th Century folds, ancient burial grounds and industrial landmarks, is the first of many which will be featured on www.lancsenvironment.com
A Lancashire County Council spokesman said: "This is just another way that we are helping open up Lancashire's fantastic countryside to more and more people."
Those who do not have a computer need not worry as traditional paper guides will be available through local outlets in a few weeks.
